Dress Up 2010. October and November Dresses.

I'm late with October's Halloween dress because I couldn't make a background I liked and I have the full waste bin to prove it.
In the end I caved in and bought some Inkadinkado Halloween stamps, when I realized I was bat drawing challenged or more probably just fed up with and being driven batty by my consistently hopeless backgrounds I was making.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
So for this dress I brayered Adirondack dye ink in Citrus on watercolour paper added a panel of purple metallic paint at the bottom.
I used a paper doily as a stencil and sponged orange acrylic paint through the doily.
Sprayed with gold mica mixed with water. Stamped with Versafine black and added glossy accents and bugle beads.

November's Dress is Fireworks in the Sky.
This one thankfully turned out just how I wanted it without any messing about.

This dress is metallic blue paint on watercolour paper, the background stars are gold and silver Sakura pens and some silver stickles. The fireworks are various stickles glitter glues.

Next month is the big reveal for December and our last month of Margaret's Dress Up challenge.
Margaret is such a STAR for running the challenge all year :-)

Sorry - No story this time. Sometimes I have lots of free time and sometimes I don't :-)

Hi Gini - fabulous dresses once again! Great idea to use the doily as a stencil, and I love the bat stamp - perfect fit on the bodice of the dress!
The fireworks are spectacular - brilliant use of all that glitter and sparkle. (And you know how much I love glitter)!!
Have a great weekend - Love and Hugs, Sylvia xxxxx

Fine. I'm NEVER coming back here again. No story indeed! I love your dresses though. October's is very elegant, the stamps are perfect and who would have know you used a doily, it's delightful! November's well, what can I say, it's WONDERFUL! Can I have the contents of your wastebasket please? I'm sure they're better than the projects I've completed. Just how many colours of embossing powder dio you have anyways?

Gini,

I can totally relate to your frustration. My background didn't turn out like I wanted it this month, either, but I persevered and used the paper anyway. I can see why you would have purchased those stamps. Both the bat and the spider web look like they were made exactly for your October dress. You had a great eye when it came to their placement, too.

The November dress has SO much texture and sparkle. It's hard to photograph glitter, but you have done a fantastic job. I can see why you were pleased with this one.

Love these but I think the glitz of November is my fave. Okay, I officially think you must continue making these into 2011. It just has to continue, I enjoy seeing them too much!
