Waltzingmouse Stamps 1 year Anniversary Competition

Hello to all my new followers, I can't make blogger play ball and show me your profiles so I can visit your blogs. It probably needs more cheese but I only have Cathedral City left and no way am I sharing it. So I'm sorry about that.

You all know who the wicked witch of the north is don't you?
Well after 3 weeks without crafting I turned into her.
Fortunately I have had my crafting fix and am back to normal again.

Waltzing Mouse Stamps is a year old this weekend.
Claire Brennan is the very talented owner who designs all the stamps herself and makes beautiful cards.
I think the design elements and professional finish of Claire's cards are outstanding.
8 new stamp sets are being released tomorrow and all 8 sets are the prize in this competition.

Now, I don't actually make layout cards normally, but I love love love looking at all the marvellous blogs and websites that do. I more or less love the whole range of card styles from sleek to quirky minimal and cards with enough bling and flowers to sink a battleship.

So why am I making some now?
To try and be brief about it, Last year I recommended my dear friend Sylvia to look at Claire's blog because I thought she would like Claire's designs, she did and has since bought some of the stamp sets.
Unfortunately Sylvia's house is undergoing major renovations and none of her crafting gear is accessible even if she did want to sit in her car and try and make things, which is the only place not covered in building dust.
So I am entering for her, and if we win it will make a brilliant early birthday present for her.
Thankfully the draw is going to be random, otherwise I don't think I would have stood a hope in hell of winning.

I forgot at first that the draw was going to be random and I was really trying to make a card in keeping with Claire's style and was failing miserably.
Thankfully I decided to reread her competition post and breathed a big sigh of relief when I discovered the now magical word "random".
The layout to follow was mercifully simple, and comprises three different sized circles.

If you're a regular here you'll recognise the Jo Kill style rabbits. It was a toss up of it being "Some days all you see are rabbits" or "Hare today gone tomorrow" but I'm glad I picked this "sentiment".
It nearly is a sentiment... really.
Actually it is a follow on from that well known card making phrase
"Happy Birthday to all you rabbits out there."
Click on them to make them bigger.

This next one is called "How sweet the bird sings."
When I was stamping out the singing bird I wondered what song he was singing.
Seeing as it is turning out to be a marvellous spring, his song was bound to be something grand and sweeping.
Well what do you know, it's Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, what a clever little bird.
I wonder if he sings
"Sparing his life for his pork sausages" instead of
"spare him his life from this monstrosity".
It's an easy mistake to make.

A Queen lyric makes a great sentiment.
I'm surprised we don't see them more often on cards.

"Happy Birthday Dear Son in Law and spare him his life from this monstrosity."
It just rolls right off the tongue, and such a happy thought for a happy day.

"Happy mother's day 'cos fat bottomed girls make the rockin' world go round."

"Congratulations on your Wedding, another one bites the dust"

Oh, I could play this game all day... Can you think of any?

Why have I made two cards?

A very good question, well on the basis that if you don't ask you don't get.
I am hoping that with two cards I can have two entries, one for me and one for Sylvia.
I cannot believe my bare-faced cheek either!
However, I completely except that the judges decision is final :-)

Wherever you are and whatever you are doing this weekend I hope it is a good one for you.
I am hoping for plenty of crafting time myself.
Happy creating!

Oh, and Claire always finishes her posts with "hope it tickles" so right back atcha kid!
